PROFILE OF FASHOLA, ABDUL-RAFIU OMOWOLE

Omowole was born on the 15th of September 1968 to the Fashola Royal Dynasty of Ogudu land in Kosofe Local Government of Lagos State by HRM Alaiyeluwa Oba Najeemdeen
Akinwunmi Fashola (Ologudu of Ogudu) and Olori Saudat Adunni Fashola. He attended Lara Day Nursery & Primary School, Ikeja, Lagos, between 1972 to 1979 andproceeded to Igbobi College & Angus Memorial High School, Yaba for his Ordinary & Advanced Level
School Certificate from 1979 to 1986. He further bagged a B.A. and M.P. Administration from the prestigious Lagos State University, Ojo in 1990 and 2005 respectively.

 

Legal & Public Service Career

  • Abdul-Rafiu commenced his Public Service Career as a Personnel Officer II in Agege Local Govt on the 18th of November 1991 and subsequently traverse through Epe, Lagos Island and Apapa LGs in Yrs. 1996, 1999 and 2002 where he left his marks on the sands of time.
  • In recognition of his Sterling Administrative Acumen, the then Governor, now Mr. President, Ashiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu appointed him as the Council Manager/Head of Administration of;
  • Amuwo-Odofin Local Govt (2003-2007).
  • Oshodi-Isolo (2007-2009).
  • Ifako-Ijaiye (2009-2012).
  • Odi-Olowo/Ojuwoye (2012-2015).
  • Ikorodu (2015-2016).
  • Ajeromi-Ifelodun LGAs (2016-2017).

         Omowole is a member of:

  • Highly reputable Professional bodies such as Chartered Institute
    of Personnel Managers (CIPM) 
  • Nigerian Institute of Management (NIM). He has
    attended various Local and International Conferences and Seminars.

Personal Life & Interests

  • Abdul-Rafiu belongs to the Islamic faith. He is happily married to Mrs. Mary Oluwatosin
    Fashola and blessed with amazing and wonderful Children.
  • His hobbies include travelling,
    coaching & mentorship, watching and playing soccer.

Key Positions Held

  • He was transferred to the Mainstream of the State Public Service in 2017 and deployed tothe Ministry of Establishment, Training and Pension. He was later appointed as theSecretary, Staff Housing and Loans Board in 2018.
  • As the Chairman, Body of Council Managers (2012-2017), he was appointed a member of the ‘Local Government Reform Committee’ in 2015 to articulate Municipal Administration in line with the Resilient Mega City Policy thrust of the State Government.
  • Mr. Fashola Abdul-Rafiu Omowole was appointed Permanent Secretary by the Lagos State Governor, Mr. Babajide Sanwo- Olu on 30th December, 2024. He was sworn-in and deployed to the Lagos State Independent Electoral Commission on the 10th of January, 2025.
