DR. METILELU OLUMIDE OLUSOLA – COMMISSIONER
Dr. Metilelu Olumide Olusola was born on August 4, 1967, in Imota, Ikorodu Division of Lagos State. He is the immediate past Acting Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic) of the Lagos State University of Science and Technology, Ikorodu (LASUSTECH), and formerly served as the Acting Rector of the defunct Lagos State Polytechnic (LASPOTECH). He is currently an Associate Professor of Tourism and Hospitality Management
Dr. Metilelu holds a Ph.D. in Ecotourism and Wildlife Management from the Federal University of Technology, Akure (FUTA); an M.Sc. in International Hospitality and Tourism from Bournemouth University, United Kingdom; and a Master’s degree in Public Administration (Budgeting and Planning) from Olabisi Onabanjo University, Ago Iwoye. He also earned a Postgraduate Diploma in Transport Studies from the same institution. Additionally, he obtained an M.Sc. in Business Administration with a specialization in Hospitality and Tourism Management from Lead City University.
His academic qualifications include a Bachelor’s degree in Economics from Ambrose Alli University, Ekpoma; a B.Sc. in Hotel Management and Tourism from Atiba University; and a Higher National Diploma (HND) in Hotel and Catering Management from LASPOTECH.
He has published over 40 articles in reputable journals and serves on the editorial boards of several national and international publications. He is a recognized external moderator and assessor of academic papers for various tertiary institutions. He is also a fellow of multiple professional bodies.
Fellowships:
In his leadership roles, Dr. Metilelu has achieved remarkable milestones. As Chairman of Accreditation while serving as Deputy Rector (Academic) at LASPOTECH, he oversaw the successful accreditation of 67 programs by the National Board for Technical Education (NBTE) in 2018. As Acting Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic) of LASUSTECH, he led a team that secured resource accreditation from the National Universities Commission (NUC) for 33 programs in 2022.
Dr. Metilelu also served as a returning officer for the Lagos State Independent Electoral Commission (LASIEC) during the 2021 local government elections. Renowned for his collaborative and innovative approach, he has demonstrated exceptional managerial skills, delivering outstanding results in various capacities.
His key interests span coastal tourism, sustainable development, entrepreneurship, skills and talent development, civic engagement, and capacity building aimed at enhancing the quality of higher education.
He is a distinguished academic and currently serves as the Third Vice President of the Nigerian Hotel and Catering Institute. A mentor and dedicated professional, he is deeply committed to societal development.
Dr. Metilelu is happily married and blessed with children.
